Would you describe yourself as socially progressive and if so, how?
13.	Would you describe yourself as fiscally responsible, and if so how?
14.	What role will grassroots organizing play in your campaign?
15.	Why do you believe you will be nominated at the August Convention?
Questions for Michigan Secretary of State Candidate
1.	Why are you running for this office?
2.	What 3 issues do you want to define you as a candidate?
3.	If elected, what will be your top goals in this office?
4.	Name one specific thing that the current Michigan Secretary of State has done (or failed to do) that you disagree with, why do you disagree, and what would you have done differently?
5.	What is your position regarding Election Con (the so-called "election consolidation" law)?
6.	There is a great deal of evidence that the Diebold Accuvote machines can be hacked. What will you do to maintain the integrity of our elections?
7.	Uninsured and unlicensed drivers pose a huge safety risk and financial liability for everyone, despite the insurance fund ostensibly set up to mitigate the cost. What do you see as the causes of this problem, and what would you do to solve it?
8.	Changes in the driving requirements for young people aged 15-17 may have reduced youth accidents, but by privatizing drivers' education and raising the cost so high that low and middle income youth cannot afford to drive until age 18, the safety results have come through economic discrimination rather than by better training. How would you correct this situation?
9.	Republicans Miller and Land have worked overtime to undermine both the spirit and the law of the National Voter Registration Act (Motor Voter). The Secretary of State has failed to make sure that officials at state welfare agencies, public universities, or other state social services are qualified and sworn to register clients in person to vote. How would you correct this blatant violation of federal law?
10.	Would you describe yourself as socially progressive and if so, how?
11.	Would you describe yourself as fiscally responsible, and if so how?
12.	What role will grassroots organizing play in your campaign?
13.	Assuming you are the Democratic Party candidate for this office, Why do you believe you will win in the November election?

004 Democratic Candidate Forum, 1 of 2, Washtenaw 04/05/2006

The Second Democratic Candidate Forum of Washtenaw (04/05/2006)
Moderator: Former Congresswoman Lynn Rivers
Candidates for Michigan Attorney General: Mr. Alexander Lipsey, Mr. Amos E. Name one specific thing that the current Attorney General has done (or failed to do) that you disagree with, why do you disagree, and what would you have done differently?
5.	Michigan has a very high incarceration rate. Do you agree that this is how our society should be? If not, what will you do to change it?
6.	Misfeasance and malfeasance by local government officials in Michigan seems to be on the rise, if municipal receiverships and prosecutions are a reliable indicator. What do you plan to do to improve the quality and accountability of government?
7.	Consumer protection has been neglected under the incumbent. Gasoline profiteering, violations of the item pricing law, and many other scams have gone unchallenged. What would your administration do to reverse this trend?
8.	Explain your position on a woman's right to choose a legal abortion, teaching sex education and protecting access to contraceptives?
9.	What is your position on Affirmative Action?
10.	What is your position on teaching evolution in our public schools?
11.	What is your analysis of current deficiencies in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act by public agencies, and what would you do to improve compliance?
